Customer Reviews of this Detroit House Plans.com Home Design:
The property has been in his family for five generations, so we wanted to pick the perfect plan for the farm. Luckily, we found that plan at this site.
We are newly married and have a new baby. Our rental house was small and we needed more space. We really like the fact that the kitchen and dining are open to the living room. Also, the master is on the opposite side of the house from the kids rooms. After several years of renting, we decided to build on my husband's family property. The property has been in his family for five generations, so we wanted to pick the perfect plan for the farm. Luckily, we found that plan with this designer. The house is underway and we look forward to spending our lives in our new home. Thank You!
I am so proud and happy and can't wait to move in!
I saw the house for sale by a custom home builder and loved it with his alterations but someone beat me to it! I got online and found this site and purchased the plans for myself. I worked with the guys at this company to make the same modifications, because it was the "perfect" house for me. Everyone who has seen it say it looks very big! I am so proud and happy and can't wait to move in! It is going to be so awesome when it is finished!
We just looked at each other and knew that this was the plan…
We were newlyweds living in a mobile home in a small town rural area when we felt a desire for a larger, more permanent home. We were growing concerned that our mobile home would eventually require too much upkeep and through the wisdom of our parents, felt that a site-built home would be a wiser investment. However, at our fairly young age, we were not sure how much of a home we could afford. At first we began browsing for house plans for the future. We found ourselves wanting to change every plan we came across to fit our lives. We looked through countless books and almost gave up. We happened upon looking online and found our plan immediately. We just looked at each other and knew that this was the plan. It had everything we wanted to add to the other plans. With the help of online calculators, we found that by ordering our plan ourselves and subcontracting, we could afford a home much more easily than by hiring a general contractor. Not only that, but we could build a larger, more customized home this way. Everything came into place. We suddenly received an offer on our mobile home and with today's housing market, felt it was time to act. We found the perfect home site, began the mortgage process and everything moved very quickly from that point on. We did have to meet with contractors several times a week, but felt that by being involved in the process, our house was going to be very special and exactly what we wanted. We finished our home in record time and feel unbelievably blessed. Our home is much more than we ever expected we could have. All of our contractors, inspectors, and even the appraiser fell absolutely in love with the layout of our home and wanted to know where we found our plan. Our friends and family also greatly approved and thought our home was much more costly than it actually was. We have now been in our new home for about six months, so we are still arranging some things to our taste, but every day we feel continually grateful for the home we have. We absolutely enjoy it. Our home has room for any changes that might take place in our family and our lives.
Everyday, we realize how fortunate we are to live in this beautiful home...
Soon after my husband and I were married, we knew we were going to need a bigger house. I began looking at houseplans on the internet and must have looked at hundreds over 6 months or more. We finally decided that a certain home design would work best for our family and the land it would be sitting on. Our house sits on the former land of my parents right across from their house, located in a rural area. I wanted our house to look like a modern country home. The front and back porched remind me of my grandparents homes which were only a few miles from ours. The interior of our home has changed our lives because it provides both parents and children their privacy by separating the bedrooms on either end of the house. In our previous house, the bedrooms were so close together that we could hear everything from room to room as if the doors were open. The kitchen and livingroom of of our other house were separated and left the cook (me) feeling isolated and left out. Now the only thing separating the areas are two two 2-foot partial walls where the flooring changes. The garage is very spacious and we have so much potential storage area off the bonus room that we will never need it all. Speaking of the bonus room, we are using it as a home gym and gameroom which my husband and kids absolutely love. There are so many features that we love it's hard to name just a few. We love the front and back porches. We recently had a patio put in off the back porch and we love it. On the inside, I love the split bedroom design because it gives me and my husband some much needed privacy. The open kitchen and livingroom design keeps the family together during the day. We put a bedroom in the flex space which will easily be changed into an office as the children leave home. We have only 3 left living with us now. I modified the masterbath by reversing the toilet room with a jetted tub/shower and took out the shower stall. It gave us tons on room for cabinets. We also modified the exterior/front where the garage is. We also added a mudroom in the garage where we put a sink and toilet so that my husband would have it handy when he was working in his detached garage. I cannot end the story of our home without mentioning our wonderful builder. He helped us save so much money by letting us be the co-contractors. All along the way he tried to get us the best deals on supplies and let me pay all the suppliers early inorder to get discounts. We also did all of the interior painting and caulking to save money. Our home is worth approximately $50,000 more than it costs us, according to an unofficial appraisal. Everyday, we realize how fortunate we are to live in this beautiful home. It all started with the designer's plans, which arrived only 3 days after I ordered them. Thank you for improving our quality of life and giving us the home of our dreams.
This is a great floor plan and everyone that has visited our home has loved it!
After looking at hundreds of floor plans at various different sites we finally narrowed our search down to one floor plan. The plan we saw met all our needs and was very easy and affordable to modify with some minor changes. Some of the small modifications we made were to expand the size of the house from 1800 sq ft to 2117 sq ft. We also used inner French doors entering the dining room and added a half-bath underneath the bonus room stairwell. We also rearranged the master bath slightly. There are so many features that we love about this home but a few of our favorites include the room locations, the extra space gained with the bonus room, and the overall look of the exterior. We found a beautiful piece of property located in a pecan orchard that would work well for this particular home design, and we used a reputable local builder and started building November of last year. It took us a little over four months to complete this house, finishing in the second week of march. We enjoyed watching the different stages of the home being completed, and although we had some doubts that some things might not turn out right, the finished home exceeded our expectations. This is a great floor plan and everyone that has visited our home has loved it!
Our experience with this designer was a home buyers dream...
Our experience with this designer was a home buyers dream. We found a plan we liked, made the adjustments that best fit our family, and never had a bad experience in the process. We have had people from our subdivision and others, as well as people from out of state, stop us in our yard to ask about the house and where we purchased our plan. Thank you for making the home building experience magnificent!

I truly do love this house plan...
I truly do love this house plan that I purchased from this designer. From the beginning, I searched through hundreds of plan books for the perfect layout. I then decided to turn to the internet and bingo, I found you guys. We are hoping to get started with construction in 2011, and feel certain that this home will be a very positive and special place for the elderly people that it will be built for... As a result, we have an enormous sense of accomplishment in our lives, in just having had a small part in finding this beautiful and highly-functional home design...
This house plan was exactly what we were looking for, and had no wasted space...
We'd been searching for a small house plan for a relative, and were about to give up, when we found the HousePlanGallery.com plan HPG-600. This house plan was exactly what we were looking for, and had no wasted space, which was a very important consideration for a 600 square foot home... Jason and the team up at House Plan Gallery are great to work with, and helped us every step of the way. I would highly recommend House Plan Gallery to anyone looking for a high-quality, affordable house plan...
Now we have a place to call home for years to come!
We must have looked a thousand house plans. The first one both my wife and I loved ended up being the same one we purchased four weeks later. It was the best fit for our family, to us, the nicest looking one, and to be honest...the best priced web site. I have never built a house before. To be clear, I am not a carpenter by any stretch of the imagination. My decision to take a month or two off of work to be 'hands on' though proved to be a lesson in life I look back on, and am glad that I decided to do so. As the acting general contractor, I worked hand-in-hand with the local contractors that I hired to build our dream house. Before this, I couldn't have told you what a 'cripple' was or how to install counter tops. I have so many stories to tell our children and grandchildren in our adventure of building a house. When we first started, everyone told us that building a house would be an 'ultimate test' to our marriage. Having the same taste and lack of knowledge in homebuilding, we thought everyone was crazy. NOW i can say that yes, it does test your patience, and yes, it does test your marriage, and YES, we passed the test, if they are keeping score. Tackling something as big as this for the first time can be scary, but in the end, I have to say...that its worth it. Now we have a place to call home for years to come! Thanks to all the kind people... We truly love our new home!
We reached our goal in paying off our property. We looked up house plans and found our custom builder. This was the best move we could had made! Selling our home in the city to build our new country house that is perfect. We have been living in it for about 4 months and we enjoy it every day. Our family and friends are in love with our house. I want to thank you again for the perfect house plan.
We had over $1,400,000 debt, and could have legally taken bankruptcy...
We owned a commercial roofing company and a trucking business that grew too fast. Poor decisions, and other circumstances contributed to the problems. Jerry's Dad, his business partner, got sick and died. After an audit we realized we were losing thousands of dollars a month. We had over $1,400,000 debt, and could have legally taken bankruptcy, but we believed that we should sell everything we could and pay back our debts. We had a nice 1926 AC ranchette home that was free and clear as well as having lots of other assets, such as cars, trucks, horses, cattle, etc. We sold everything but 1 horse, and our furniture, and we moved in with Jerry's mother who helped us with some of the debt. We actually got all the way down to having only $100 and driving a borrowed car, but we had peace! Jerry's mother gave us some land and we bought a mobile home, initially. Jerry worked hard at any job he could find. Donna went back to school, got her real estate license after 30 years as a stay-at-home wife and mother, and went to work. Over the next few years, with God's help and grace, we gradually paid back all the debt, began to save, and dreamed of building a house on our land. In 2009, we began to build and placed a Bible in our slab as a reminder of who helped us get out of our dire circumstances. We moved into our new wonderful, Country Craftsman style house in Feb 2010 and felt so blessed and restored. It is gorgeous! We made just a few modifications to the home including taking the pantry/closet out to make the dining room area larger with a nook for our antique buffet. We also omitted the stairwell (no upstairs) and made a huge pantry. We also put an outdoor fireplace on the patio and have really been enjoying it. Finally, our favorite features of this beautiful home are the Country Craftsman Style, tall ceilings, split bedrooms, big closets, two dining areas, covered patio, and the big front porch. We would definitely recommend this designer for anyone looking for a beautiful design with a floorplan that absolutely minimizes wasted space. Highly recommended!
