Customer Reviews of this Detroit House Plans.com Home Design:
It's a beautiful bungalow style home, all on one level with a fabulous master suite, a large great room, two covered porches and two additional bedrooms as well as attached two car garage.
I bought this house plan with the intent to build a future "retirement" home in Port Townsend, a seaside community on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. It's a beautiful bungalow style home, all on one level with a fabulous master suite, a large great room, two covered porches and two additional bedrooms as well as attached two car garage. I especially liked this plan because of the varied roof line which gives it fabulous curb appeal and the great room which makes it feel a lot bigger than it's 1500 square feet. Some of my favorite features are that it has two covered porches, a large and luxurious master suite, and it is all one one level. The home is built on a level and private wooded lot, 2 blocks from the beach and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. In the morning, the sun shines down through the trees onto the back porch and you can sit there sipping your coffee and watch the very tame deer wander through the forest and right up to the house. We painted the house in a combination of forest green, tan, and off white trim with a dark cherry stain on the front door. It looks perfect in the woods and makes a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. I would definately recommend this designer to anyone looking for a new home...
Thanks for helping us find and build our dream home!!
We have lived in our current two bedroom, one bath, 988 square foot home for 12 years. Since we moved in, we've subsequently had 2 children. Making it a little cramped to say the least. So we started looking at other homes. Not much caught our eye in our small town, so we looked into a quality modular home, but they only have so many options available. That's when we came across your site and my wife fell in love witha certain plan. We started in May of 2009 with 1.17 acres on the edge of town, and I went about excavating some trees and brush from the property with the help of some friends and a bulldozer. Once we decided where to place the home on the lot, we started digging for the basement. We did all of the digging and tile drainage ourselves, and basically whatever else we could do for ourselves to save money. We then hired a contractor to pour the footers and basement for us. Once that was completed, we installed our steel support beams and posts. And finally we hired a contractor to construct the home, as per the blueprints supplied to us from the designer. The contractor has done an excellent job, and we have been able to do alot of the inside work ourselves to save money, like insulate, hang drywall, install doors, etc. The house is shaping up nicely, and we are at the "mudding of the drywall" stage now and hope to complete the home in the next month. Our kids are so excited to have their own room. We will have 3200 square ft of living space. We won't know what to do with ourselves. Thanks guys for helping us find and build our dream home!!
This company has been very professional and easy to work with. We would recommend them to anyone who desires a well thought through plan that is incredibly detailed. Even across the country, these true professionals see that their clients are serviced in an extremely timely fashion and make themselves available for any questions that one may have. We could not be more pleased!

Thanks for a beautiful house plan, which has turned into a beautiful house, which has become our home, which has brought a lot of peace and comfort...
My wife (Jenny) and I (Geof) had been living in the Lower Main Land of British Columbia (Canada). We enjoyed our work and our friends there but were really wanting to move back to North Western Alberta to own some land and enjoy the open spaces. My growing girls had always dreamed of having their own horses and this was something that was not going to happen in BC. I also longed to get back to hunting, quading, and snowmobiling, again things I'd not be able to afford in BC. A large draw was also to live closer, once again, to a favorite cousin who was one of my best friends--Robert. Robert had been a bachelor for many years and finally met the woman of his dreams. We were looking so forward to getting to know Robert and his new wife Katrin, as a couple.
Tragically, six weeks after we had moved and three days short of their one year anniversary, Robert died in his sleep. We were devastated and wondered if we had made a mistake. We almost moved back to BC, because we didn't know how we could move forward, having had such a huge loss. Slowly the healing began to take hold and we started to think again about building our dream home. Robert's widow, Katrin, told us that one of Robert's last wishes that he expressed to her was that he wanted to sell a treasured piece of land to us.
Robert and I grew up hunting, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and playing on this beautiful property. When Katrin told us she'd like to sell this land to us, we were moved to tears and happily bought it from her. Many years earlier, Robert had cleared out an area on this property that he hoped to eventually build a log cabin on. He started building the log cabin with large sruce trees that dominated the property. He never did complete it as he just got too busy farming, but he did move the logs to his residence, just in case he would have time to work on it further. Once he passed away and even before we knew what house plan we would build, we knew where we would build the house. It would be on the spot that Robert had always dreamed of building his log cabin.
Jenny and I are not log cabin people, so that was never a question, but we wanted to somehow acknowledge Robert's dream for this part of the land. We have built our dream house and to top it off we plan to use some wood from Robert's half-built log cabin to make a mantle for our fireplace in our great room. Through our grief, the excellent design and assistance from House Plan Gallery to modify our plan has helped working through our loss a little more bearable. Many of Robert's friends and family members who have seen our house, have commented that Robert would have been so pleased to see what we've done with this property. When we found your plans, we knew we found what we were looking for... Some of our favorite features of this home design are the spacious great room, the beautiful dormer windows at the front which let in a lot of natural light, and an amazing master bedroom and suite. This house is not just our dream house, it is a memorial to an amazing godly man who was everyone's friend and whose influence is still being felt in so many people's lives to this day. Thanks for a beautiful house plan, which has turned into a beautiful house, which has become our home, which has brought a lot of peace and comfort...
In December 2008, our house was destroyed by a fire.
In December 2008, our house was destroyed by a fire. We had been talking about building a new house for years, but now we had too. So we got online, found the house we had dreamed of at your site, and ordered. We moved in to our new home this past September and it’s exactly what we wanted...
It was exactly what we were looking for! It was finally our time!
Well, our story started about 5 years ago! My sister and her husband decided to split up the six acres they live on and let us build next door. It took us five long years to make it all happen.
We had to jump through hoops with the county government just to get the lot subdivided. As if that wasn't bad enough, we had a contract on our house which fell through...after we had all ready moved out! So in May of 2010, after literally years of looking, we found the perfect house plan! Your house plan HPG-2750-1!
It was exactly what we were looking for! It was finally our time! My husband (a Captain in the Fire Department and myself (a homemaker) were about to start the most exciting and scary project we had ever done! We were going to build a house!
We decided to be our own contractor (the best decision we've made to date...saved ourselves over $100,000.00!). We made up a proposal and went to the bank with our fingers crossed! We must have impressed them because about a month later we were breaking ground! At the beginning of September 2010, the excavator began the digging of the foundation and by mid April 2011 we were moving into our beautiful new home. Along the way were so many ups and downs and decisions to made. We did so much of the work ourselves...my husband not only designed the kitchen...he built the cabinets himself (they are amazing!), he hung every door and did all of the trim work! I painted almost every painted surface in the house! We even had the kids helping! This was an experience that I would never trade and we are all reminded every day that hard work does pay! We all love our new home!
Your staff was very helpful throughout the process...
We had a good experience with this designer; we chose a stock plan and wanted to make a few modifications. Your staff was very helpful with this and provided objective insight into the pros and cons of various modifications we thought we wanted. In the end, we ended up changing the plan some and realized some of our ideas should be left on the drawing board”. We were happy with the quality, service, and value that we experienced throughout the process.
We still just sit back and say to each other, "Wow, I cannot believe this is our home".
Just a quick note of thanks for the many house plans and the ease to look at the style and footprints on your web site. This was one of the many reasons that we selected your plans over the many that were available on-line. Using your search criteria cut down a lot of looking and trying to decide what fit our needs the best.
This designer is ready willing and able to make it happen.
The staff at this company has been a pleasure to work with on designing the plans for our new home. Someone has been available to answer any and all questions that my wife and I have had, and this company made several relevant suggestions to us to help us through this process. My wife and I are contracting our house ourselves and this designer has been there to help direct us on each phase. We did make several modifications to the original plan we selected, and the company was ready willing and able to make it happen. We would recommend this designer without reservation.
